Rallied vs Thread: Thread owns the conversation with your client, Rallied does the work in your PSA

Thread is the chat channel and unified inbox for ConnectWise, Autotask and HaloPSA, with automated triage at 96% and, on its AI Pro tier, a triage agent and a reminder agent that Thread says resolve 10 to 25% of issues without a technician. Rallied is an AI agent that resolves requests in your PSA: it resets the password, grants the mailbox, runs the onboarding and closes the ticket. They meet at the ticket, so an MSP can run both, and the ones we talk to want to.

Why MSPs look for a Thread alternative

Thread says 750+ MSPs use it, and the MSPs on our sales calls who run it like the part clients see: a Teams or Slack chat that turns into a ticket, one inbox for chat and email, time entries written for the tech. What sends them looking is what happens after the ticket exists. Thread's agents triage and remind, and Thread's own integrations page lists Rewst as the way to run automations, so the fix still waits for a technician or for a workflow someone built.

  • Thread's AI Pro agents are a Triage Agent and a Reminder Agent, by its own pricing FAQ, and its resolution claim is 10 to 25% of issues handled in conversation with no technician. The other 75 to 90% arrive as prepped tickets for your team.
  • On our calls, one Thread customer said the AI repeats what the client typed and then the team takes over, and another told us Thread needs an RPA like Rewst or Pia plugged in to solve tickets.
  • Pricing is per managed customer per month, $34 on AI Pro plus $5 for chat, so the bill grows with your client list rather than with the work handled.
  • RMM reach is ConnectWise Automate only, and no Microsoft 365 or identity integration is listed, so a password reset is a conversation in Thread and a task in your tenant.
  • Thread brings its own Inbox on top of the PSA. Techs work in Thread and the PSA stays the system of record behind it.

[Thread's AI] just comes back and basically repeats what the customer says. And then my team took over.

The only way to make your solution better than Thread at this point is to have the chat channel, but also be able to solve the ticket.

Thread vs Rallied

Thread Rallied
What it is Chat channel and unified inbox for MSPs on ConnectWise, Autotask or HaloPSA, with automated triage and AI agents that handle client conversations. AI agent that reads each ticket in your PSA, does the work and writes up what it did.
How you set it up Connect your PSA and chat tools, then configure the AI. Thread says you are live in 24 hours. Connect your PSA, RMM and Microsoft 365, then say in plain English what it may do on its own.
Who runs it day to day Your dispatcher and techs, working from Thread's Inbox. Nobody full time. Your service manager sets the guardrails and approves anything that needs a sign-off.
Time to first result Live in 24 hours and ROI in 60 days or refunded, by Thread's account. Most MSPs connect their PSA and go live in under a week, starting in Plan Mode so you can check its work first.
Plain-word tickets Reads the chat or email and sets title, category, priority, type, subtype, resolution summary and time entries at 96% accuracy. Its agents resolve 10 to 25% of issues in conversation and the rest go to a technician as prepped tickets. Reads the request, checks who is asking and works out what to do.
Tools without an API Not offered. A browser agent logs into the admin console and does the task, at 30 to 60 seconds an action.
Where approvals happen Not part of the model. The agents triage and remind, and a technician does the work from the Inbox. On the ticket in your PSA, with per-action defaults you can tighten or loosen.
Reach ConnectWise PSA, Autotask and HaloPSA; Microsoft Teams, Slack, web and desktop chat; Rewst, TimeZest, IT Glue, Auvik, CloudRadial and ConnectWise Automate. ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA and SuperOps; Datto RMM, NinjaOne, N-central and ConnectWise Automate; Microsoft 365, IT Glue, Hudu and Confluence.
Pricing AI Essentials $19 and AI Pro $34 per managed customer a month. Chat is $5 per customer, Voice AI $15 per customer on Pro only. 60-day money-back guarantee. $3 per ticket Rallied resolves, $150 a month minimum. Triage and diagnosis are free.

Where Thread wins

The channel your clients see
Teams, Slack, web or desktop chat that becomes a ticket in the PSA, plus Voice AI that answers calls, routes them and transcribes. Rallied takes requests from Slack and Teams as intake channels and works the ticket, and it does not offer a client-branded chat product.
The technician inbox
One place for chat and email, time entries written from the conversation, reminders on waiting tickets, and Magic Analytics on AI Pro. Rallied has no inbox because it works inside the PSA you already have.
Triage out of the box
Title, category, priority, type, subtype, resolution summary and time entries set automatically at 96% accuracy, and 97% positive end-client sentiment by Thread's count. Rallied triages too, as a free step before resolution, but for Thread the triage is the product and it shows.
Scale and backing
750+ MSPs, 173 million tickets processed, $30 million raised including an $18 million round from Susquehanna Growth Equity announced in December 2025, and a 60-day money-back guarantee. Rallied is younger and narrower on purpose.

Which one fits

Pick Thread if

  • Your clients want to open and follow tickets in Teams or Slack, and your techs want one inbox for chat and email.
  • Dispatch overhead is the pain: categorizing, prioritizing, chasing clients who went quiet, writing time entries.
  • You are fine with 75 to 90% of tickets still landing on a technician, better prepped than before.

Pick Rallied if

  • The pain is the routine tickets themselves: password resets, unlocks, mailbox access, onboarding and offboarding done by a person.
  • You need the agent to act in Microsoft 365, your RMM and your documentation tools, with approvals on the ticket.
  • You want to pay per ticket resolved, $3 each with a $150 monthly minimum, rather than per managed customer.

What each one costs

Thread

From $19 per managed customer a month

AI Essentials is $19 and AI Pro is $34 per managed customer per month. Integrated Chat is $5 per customer and Voice AI is $15 per customer on AI Pro only. Unlicensed customers draw from a credit pool of three credits per license, one credit per automated ticket. 60-day money-back guarantee.

For 50 managed customers on AI Pro plus chat: 50 x ($34 + $5) = $1,950 a month. Add Voice AI and it is 50 x $54 = $2,700 a month. At 100 customers on AI Pro plus chat the same arithmetic gives $3,900.

Rallied

$3 per resolved ticket

$150 a month minimum. You pay when Rallied made a real change in your systems or ran a workflow start to finish. Triage, diagnosis and handoffs are free.

Questions MSPs ask us about Thread

Is Rallied a replacement for Thread?

No. Thread is the channel your clients talk to and the inbox your techs work from. Rallied resolves the ticket in your PSA. Thread writes tickets into ConnectWise, Autotask or HaloPSA and Rallied works tickets in those PSAs, so an MSP can run both, with Thread handling the conversation and Rallied doing the work.

Does Thread resolve tickets on its own?

Partly. Thread says its AI agents resolve 10 to 25% of issues with no technician involved and hand the rest over as prepped tickets. Its pricing FAQ names two agents on AI Pro, a Triage Agent and a Reminder Agent. Resetting a password, granting a mailbox or running an onboarding in your systems is not what they do.

What does Thread cost for 50 managed customers?

On AI Pro with chat, 50 customers at $34 plus $5 each is $1,950 a month. Voice AI adds $15 per customer, for $2,700. Rallied for the same MSP is $3 per ticket it resolves with a $150 monthly minimum, so 300 resolved tickets in a month is $900.

Can Rallied pick up tickets that come in through Thread's chat?

Yes, through the PSA. There is no direct Thread integration. Thread creates the ticket in ConnectWise, Autotask or HaloPSA, and Rallied reads tickets in those PSAs, so a request that arrived in Teams through Thread is a ticket Rallied can resolve, with the approval on that same ticket.
